Life Among The Plebs: The Archaeology of a Lower Class Neighborhood in Pompeii

Dr. Gary Devore will speak on his excavations at Pompeii: "Life Among The Plebs: The Archaeology of a Lower Class Neighborhood in Pompeii." The lecture will be held at 6 PM on Wednesday, December 2 on the UCSC campus in Humanities 1, 520.

Dr. Devore is a lecturer at Stanford and UC Santa Cruz. He is a Director of the Pompeii Archaeological Research Project: Porta Stabia (Italy) as well as of the new Binchester Archaeological Excavations at Hadrian's Wall in the UK.

Dr. Devore's lecture will be the first in an ongoing series on "Archaeology and the Ancient World," sponsored by the President's Chair in Ancient Studies and the Archaeological Institute of America. The general public is particularly invited to attend.
